Get Involved by Volunteering

The Columbus Art Council wants the community to be involved in our programs!

Make new friends and learn more about the inner workings of an arts organization by becoming an arts council volunteer. We consider our volunteers essential members of the arts council team and most of these volunteer opportunities are 3 hours a month or less. Contact Rod Magg, Executive Director for more information.

Docents/Gallery Aides

Volunteers are needed to help at the Columbus Art Gallery from 1-5 p.m. on weekdays. Trained volunteers would cover hours when staff is gone, help take care of sales, greet visitors and answer questions about the current exhibit.

Visual Art Assistants

Volunteers who like to be creative and have fun with children are needed to assist with different art programs sponsored by the Columbus Art Gallery. The pre-school storyART program runs every other Thursday from September-May at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Creative Journeys is a summer art program for children ages 5-10. The Columbus Arts Council also sponsors art activities in Frankfort Square for the Summer Reading Program and Columbus Days. Have fun and help kids learn how to bring out their artistic side.

Gift Shop Merchandisers

Do you have an eye for art and a talent for displays? Volunteers are needed to help rotate the displays of art and merchandise in the Columbus Art Gallery Gift Shops. Your creativity and organization is needed.

Committee Members

The Columbus Arts Council and Columbus Art Gallery have four standing committees that could use your ideas and input. The four committees are (1) Finance & Membership, (2) Programs & Education, (3) Marketing & Communications and (4) the Exhibit Committee. The committees meet approximately 4-6 times a year.
